The UK government has slashed its VAT for all residential households purchasing heat pumps for the next five years. This energy-saving announcement will reduce the value-added tax (VAT) for applications from 5% to zero in an attempt to boost renewable energy installation methods and encourage more people to install low carbon measures such as air source and ground source heat pumps. This VAT cut has come at a perfect time when homeowners are facing an unprecedented rise in energy bills.
Rishi Sunark, Chancellor of Exchequer, has given the go-ahead to help homeowners install energy efficacy measures in aid of combating the rise of energy bills and reducing our carbon footprint. His Spring Statement has been warmly welcomed to help drive the uptake of carbon-reducing technologies.
When is the right time to invest in renewable energy?
With every year the global energy demands continue to rise. Switching to a renewable energy system is not only great for the planet but good for your pocket, so why wait!?
The Government have continued to produce initiative programmes – the most recent being ‘The Boiler Upgrade Scheme’ to push affordable green energy into residential households. This is just the beginning of a greener, cleaner future with the hope that this incentivises people to make positive energy-efficient choices moving forward.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme incentive will provide a £6,000 discount towards ground source heat pumps and a £5,000 discount towards air source heat pumps.
